Criteria &Eligibility

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

2.Applicants for Bachelor’s program are supposed to be aged from 18 to 25 years old, and for master’s program aged from 20 to 35 years old.

Language Requirements

1. English-taught Programs

Applicants from English-speaking countries (English as mother Tongue/ official language), should submit the proof that English is the mother tongue;

Applicants from English as non-native language countries should submit English-learning transcripts with recognition of Changsha University of Science & Technology, such as IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 etc, or pass the English test of CSUST;

2.Chinese-taught Programs

Chinese-taught bachelor’s degree program is scheduled to study Chinese first for one year, starting from September 2019 to July 2020. Students shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) before academic study.

Application Documents:

1.Applicants should register online and fill in the application online. The Online Application System is available on https://csust.17gz.org/.

2.Highest diploma (notarized photocopy): Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

3.Academic transcripts (notarized photocopy): Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

4.(For Master Applicants Only) A study or research plan (no less than 800 words). It must be in Chinese or in English.

5.(For Master Applicants Only) Two Recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

Conditional admission scholarships are offered to outstanding students.Students shall go through the procedures of the annual assessment, qualified students can obtain scholarship in the following academic year.

Application and Admission Procedure

Step 1: Online Application

Applicants can log in the Online Service System for International Students of CSUST：https://csust.17gz.org/ , and register an account and fill in online forms and submit the applications.

Step 2: Documents assessment and admission confirmation

After reviewing of application materials in accordance with the provisions of the university, successful applicants will be issued Admission Notice and the Visa Application for Study in China (the JW202 Form).

Note:Applicant needs to pay the postage by him/herself for mailing services.

Step 3: Application for Study Visa to China

The applicant can apply for study visa to China with the Admission Notice , Visa Application for Study in China (the JW202 Form), the Physical Examination Records and other required documents in Chinese Embassy abroad.

Notes：Application in person accepted only.

►Insurance

According to the relevant regulations of the Chinese government, international students must be insured as required. For students who fail to buy insurance, enrollment will be disqualified.

Registration

The specific time of registration shall be based on the Admission Notice. The applicant should register with passport, Admission Notice , Visa Application for Study in China (the JW202 Form) at CSUST within the time limit, if student fail to register within the time limit, enrollment will be disqualified.

About Changsha University of Science & Technology

Changsha University of Science & Technology（CSUST） was established in 1956. Boasting of a history of over 60 years, CSUST distinguishes itself as an engineering-centered multidisciplinary university, integrating the distinctive characteristics of the following industries: transportation, power industry, hydrological industry and light industry.

About International Students Education

Since 1999, Changsha University of Science & Technology（CSUST） has been accredited to recruit and train international students, and is awarded as the advanced unit for international students. With rapid growth in the number of students registered, CSUST has attracted international students from 50 countries, with annual recruitment reaching 300 people.

The recruitment and training of international students rely mainly on the key disciplines, advanced faculty as well as sophisticated teaching platform. After more than ten years of development, a multi-level and comprehensive training system has been established which mainly focuses on academic education and is supplemented by long-term and short-term Chinese language training, with a comprehensive education level covering undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral candidates. The system is also multi-typed with various funding channels ranging from Chinese government scholarship, Confucius Institute scholarship, to university-enterprise cooperation, and inter-universities cooperation. Now more than 10 key disciplines have been established to train international students bilingually in civil engineering, electrical engineering, hydraulic engineering, mechanical engineering, business administration, etc.

We aim to cultivate our international students with scientific and humanistic abilities, solid foundation to their majors, practical and diversified ability and with a good understanding of international laws and regulations.

►Strong faculty profile: The university is staffed with 1939 full-time teachers, among whom are 313 professors and 645 associate professors, 743 with PhD degrees. One academician from the Chinese Academy works fulltime here and two academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering hold concurrent posts in CSUST.
