On November 21st, a Presidents Forum held by the Ministry of Transport was convened. Presided by Mr. Wang Changshun, deputy minister of the Ministry of Transport, the forum invited presidents from universities and colleges co-supported by the Ministry of Transport. President Lai Mingyong attended the meeting and spoke at the meeting.
President Lai welcomed the co-construction as an opportunity for CSUST to further highlight its new features in transportation disciplines; shared its experience in cultivating innovative talents by following closely to industry needs and quality-centered education; proposed to take reform as a driving force to further promote inner development for universities jointly established by ministries and provinces and put forward suggestions for future development.
Mr. Zhang Daliang, director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education attended the meeting. He pointed out that universities supported by the Ministry of Transportation had demonstrated their strengths and achievements, which highlighted the significant role of co-construction; and the future work should address the new requirements, enhance service capabilities and build a long-term mechanism.
Mr. Wang Changshun summarized the achievements and the situation faced by the relevant universities and pointed out that during the "Thirteenth Five-year Plan" , it is of great importance to further highlight the characteristics of the industry, consolidate its personnel training system in traffic disciplines; and make full uses of all resources to fully promote co-construction.
