On the morning of June 15th, the meeting for the establishment of the International College of CSUST was held in Conference Room A100 of the Humanities Building in Yuntang Campus. Professor Jiang Changbo, president assistant and party secretary of International College, presided the meeting.
Professor Zhang Jianren, Vice President of CSUST, announced the appointment of the administrative team of International College. Professor Lai Mingyong, President of CSUST, unveiled the plaque and delivered it to Professor Dong Zhaoyang, Dean of International College.
After that, Professor Fu Hongyuan, Party Secretary of CSUST, pointed out that the establishment of International College was a major move by the university to deepen its higher education reform and advocate the education internationalization in the current new situation, which symbolized the vision of CSUST to uphold high standards and keep abreast of international higher education development. He proposed that the administrative team of International College could plan its development against the background of the current new higher education development to integrate its construction with the strongholds of CSUST to form its brand and new features; that International College could push forward the reform against the background of internationalization, promoting talents cultivation and making contributions to the development of CSUST; and that International College could strengthen its construction of leadership, spreading the CSUST experiences and enhance its international exposure.
Professor Dong Zhaoyang, expressed his gratitude and said that the establishment of International College could never be possible without the support from the university leadership and all the teachers and students here in CSUST; that as a milestone in the development of CSUST, International College would endeavor to foster more talents to realize targets set in such areas as international education, talent training and scientific cooperation.
International College owes its establishment to the great changes and great development of higher education in China. It is a product of CSUST’s proactive policy of advancing its education innovation and exploring new ways for diversified higher education development. CSUST has persistently held the ideal of education internationalization and implemented its strategy of training internationalized talents. It has been granted by the Ministry of Education with one Sino-Foreign Joint Education Program; its education of international students has drawn strength ever since its initiation, with average annual incoming international students of around 300 person times. The international education covers bachelor degree, master degree and doctorate degree programs, with a comprehensive education system consisting of Chinese Government Scholarship students, Confucius Institute Scholarship students, university-enterprise cooperation students, intercollegiate cooperation students, intercollegiate exchange students, self-paid students, and so on.
International College of CSUST integrates the education of incoming international students, operation of sino-foreign joint-education programs, top-quality foreign-related training for enterprises as well as the platform for cross-disciplinary and industry-university-research international cooperation. The formal establishment of International College marks a new milestone for the cooperation between CSUST and international higher education institutions.
