UHI Professor Stuart Gibb Visits CSUST

On July 15th, Professor Zou Hongru, Vice President of CSUST, met with Professor Stuart Gibb, director of Environment Research Institute of University of the Highlands and Islands, senior advisor to the British Government in science and technology and lecture professor of CSUST in the fifth meeting room on Yuntang Campus. Both sides had a sincere and cordial conversation. Leaders from the Office of International Affairs and the School of Energy and Power Engineering attended the meeting.

Mr. Zou firstly introduced briefly about CSUST and Hunan Province, mentioning that CSUST regarded international advancement as one of its priorities and hoping that both sides could conduct substantive cooperation after the signing of memorandum of understanding between the two parties. Professor Stuart Gibb acknowledged that this visit provided him a good chance to gain a closer understanding of CSUST and the potential for cooperation. He introduced UHI and its experience in international cooperation. He also introduced in detail about the online courses offered by UHI, which was flexible, cost-effective and qualify-guaranteed, which would be a good base for joint education programs. Apart from student exchange programs, Mr. Zou further pointed out the faculty exchange, especially the scientific cooperation between professors.

Professor Gibb would visit CSUST again in September, when the MOU might be signed and pave the way for cooperation.
