Notice on Applying for Chinese Government Scholarship Type-A Bilateral Program

I. Applicant Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Not recipients of other Chinese government scholarships simultaneously.

3. Academic qualification and age requirements:

(1) For undergraduate programs: hold a high school diploma and be under the age of 25;

(2) For master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35;

(3) For doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree and be under the age of 40;

(4) For general scholar programs: hold a high school diploma (or higher) and be under the age of 45;

(5) For senior scholar programs: hold a master's degree (or higher) or hold the title of associate professor (or higher) and be under the age of 50;


4. Undergraduate applicants must provide the score report of the Chinese Government Scholarship College Admission (CSCA) examination. For exam information, please visit the official website: https://csca.cn; for specific subject requirements, please refer to Attachment 1 and Attachment 2. The deadline for submitting exam scores is May 31, 2026. Admitted students who fail to submit the scores by the deadline will be considered as having waived their admission qualification.

Chinese-Taught Programs

Undergraduate:   HSK Level 4 score of 180 or above


Master's/Doctoral: HSK Level 5 score of 180   or above, or TOEFL iBT 68 or above, or IELTS 5.5 or above, or Duolingo 85 or   above.

English-Taught Programs

Exemption conditions for English proficiency certificates:   Nationals of English-speaking countries (countries where English is the   native/official language).

Note: Chinese-taught programs may provide one year of Chinese language preparatory courses.


II. Scholarship Coverage and Standards

1. Exemption from registration fee, tuition fee, and accommodation fee.

2. Provision of monthly living allowance:

(1) Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500;

(2) Master's students: CNY 3,000;

(3) Doctoral students: CNY 3,500;

(4) General scholars: CNY 3,000;

(5) Senior scholars: CNY 3,500.

3. Provision of Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship program.


III. Programs Available

All programs offered by our university are available for application (for details, please refer to Attachment 3).


IV. Application Channel

Apply to the dispatching department for international students in your home country or the Chinese Embassy (Consulate General) in your country. Please consult the relevant dispatching department for specific application deadlines and procedures.


V. Application Procedure

1. Apply to and obtain the recommended candidate qualification from the dispatching department for international students in your home country or the Chinese Embassy (Consulate General) in your country;

2. Contact our university to obtain a Pre-admission Notice (which is helpful for the CSC scholarship application);

 Please write an email to admission@csust.edu.cn with the subject line "Application for Pre-admission Notice".

 Please attach the following documents to the email, with those marked with # being mandatory.

(1) Completed Pre-admission Notice Application Form (see Attachment 4);

(2) Highest diploma (Prospective diploma recipients must submit an official document issued by their current school proving their student status and expected graduation date);

(3) Academic transcripts;

(4) Study or Research Plan in China (written in Chinese or English);

(5) Copy of Passport Home Page;

(6) Copy of Passport Visa Page (For applicants currently residing in China only);

(7) Certificate of Student Status/Performance (For applicants currently residing in China only);

(8) HSK Certificate (if applicable);

(9) English Proficiency Certificate (e.g., TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo or other proof of English proficiency) (if applicable);

(10) Academic Recommendation Letters (Applicants for Master's, Doctoral, and Senior Scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors).

3.Log in to the "Chinese Government Scholarship Information System"(Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina, click the "Online Application for International Students" icon to enter), complete the online application form, submit it online, and print the "Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship". The "Instructions for the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System" and the "Agency Number" can be consulted and obtained from your national dispatching department;

4. The university will produce the official Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW201) and other enrollment materials.


Note: The China Scholarship Council does not accept direct individual applications for this program.
